Brief introduction

10-Hydroxycamptothecin is a minor alkaloid isolated from Camptotheca acuminata (a tree native to mainland China). It and its close chemical relatives (aminocamptothecin, CPT-11 [irinotecan], DX-8951f, and topotecan) are the only known natural-occurring DNA topoisomerase I inhibitors.
